| June 25, 2010 Discover Great B.C. Driving Holidays CHILLIWACK – Enhanced HelloBC website adds more interactive maps to help visitors enjoy some of British Columbia’s most spectacular driving routes. “Chilliwack has so much to offer- from beautiful farms to spectacular hiking and lookouts,” says Chilliwack MLA John Les. “Now is the time to explore our own backyard and remember why this really is the best place in earth.” “Chilliwack has a farm circle tour and an artisan tour that can be discovered and planned out ahead of time online,” says Chilliwack-Hope MLA Barry Penner. “Using the interactive maps, HelloBC.com lets people plan so that they can easily explore and discover what we have to offer.” There is strong interest in driving holidays among tourists considering vacationing in British Columbia. Fully 42 per cent of all inquiries to HelloBC regarding B.C. holidays indicated an interest in driving vacations. Using the interactive maps--which include descriptions of route highlights, photos and videos-- tourists are able to get an overview of many of B.C.’s most scenic driving routes. They are able to explore each route in detail and the interactive maps feature turn-by-turn driving instruction that can be printed or downloaded. Another valuable tool for driving holiday travellers is the Near Me BC iPhone application introduced last year on HelloBC. The application can determine a visitor’s location and present the attractions, hotels and restaurants that are nearby. Vital details – such as descriptions, maps, phone numbers and addresses are all available for more than 4,000 tourism businesses throughout the province. Over 20,000 users have downloaded the application since its launch. For more information on the interactive maps, iPhone application and travelling through B.C., visit: HelloBC.com -30- | |
